Car-free Eurocamping at La Chapelle

Eurocamp list a few campsites that you don't need a car for - and we chose La Chappelle from that list because we wanted a car-free holiday. It IS possible to get there from UK entirely using public transport, and the campsite is located very centrally at the beach - less than 5 mins walk to two different... supermarkets, and to the beach and a large number of shops, restaurants, ice cream shops etc. The only real transport issue during the holiday was getting to Luna Park (mini golf, high ropes, go karting etc) - it was too hot to walk the 4 mile round-trip, so we used the tourist land train, but these don't run to a reliable timetable, they are very infrequent and if you get one going the long way round it takes a full hour of bone-rattling ride to get there. We spent a lot of time waiting around at bus stops!
The campsite itself was fine - but the location is possibly the best thing about the site.
The pools were great, they do enforce the speedos-only rule for men/boys (at least, some of the lifeguards do - not all of them). We were able to get a lounger most days, turning up at the pool at any time of day; you can play ball games in the large pool, and the queues were never too bad for the slides. Perhaps the pools were less busy than other sites we've been to because the beach is so close by?
There isn't a campsite shop as such - there's a kiosk selling the most delicious pain au chocolats, croissants, baguettes etc every morning, and at night I believe they sell takeaway pizza etc there (we didn't use it for that) but the supermarkets/restaurants in town are so close that they don't need any more than that on site.
As far as pitches go, it's cosy - very cosy. They have fitted a large number of mobile homes into a very compact area. Often when we've paid more for a larger mobile home, it comes on a large pitch, but not at this site. I don't expect much privacy on a campsite, but there was less here than any other site I've ever been to, as we were surrounded from every angle by other mobile homes in very close proximity to us. This was probably the biggest downside of the site for me, but apart from one or two frustrations with inconsiderate neighbours, it was okay.
