A Fantastic 10 nights at Playa Montroig

We’ve just returned from a 10-night stay at Playa Montroig, staying in a Eurocamp accommodation, and overall we had a fantastic holiday.
Starting with the accommodation, we stayed in an ultimate cabin. It was lovely, spacious, clean and located on a quiet road. The Eurocamp staff were friendly and... helpful, and we appreciated having two cots provided for our babies. One cot was absolutely fine, but the mattress in the other was extremely thin, so much so that I ended up putting folded towels underneath the sheet to make it more comfortable for my baby.
The oven in our accommodation wasn't working, which was unfortunate as we ate in most evenings. In fairness, I never reported it during our stay, so Eurocamp didn't have the opportunity to fix it. The shower pressure was excellent, but the temperature was very difficult to regulate and constantly fluctuated between hot and cold.
The resort itself is beautiful. The beach is fantastic and the weather during our stay was amazing. The splash pool was great fun for the kids, but one feature we really didn't enjoy was the constant water pouring down on you while climbing the stairs to the slides. Two of our four children disliked it, and honestly so did I. It meant constantly getting your hair soaked, washing it every evening, and having sunscreen running into your eyes.
One thing that surprised me was the lack of baby-changing facilities around the plaza area. After asking several members of staff and not finding any, I ended up changing one of my babies on the grass, which wasn't ideal.
The takeaway food was good, but the opening hours need improvement. It opened around lunchtime, then closed for several hours before reopening at 7pm. This resulted in huge queues every evening, often with an hour's wait. For families with young children, waiting until 8pm for food simply isn't practical.
Similarly, the on-site shop closed at 8pm, which felt too early considering it's the only nearby shop. Extending the opening hours until 10pm would make a big difference.
The bar service was another area that could be improved. Some staff members were excellent, but others seemed overwhelmed or very slow, especially on show nights. It was often difficult to get a drink during the evening entertainment. Once the shop was closed, there weren't many alternatives if you hadn't planned ahead.
The entertainment, however, was outstanding. We saw both the acrobatics show and the ABBA tribute, and they were genuinely excellent—far better than entertainment we've experienced at many other holiday resorts.
The kids' disco was the one part of the entertainment schedule that didn't work for us. It was held between 6pm and 7pm, which is exactly when many families are feeding young children. We only managed to attend once or twice. An 8pm start would have suited families much better, followed by the adult entertainment afterwards, as happens in many other resorts.
I also felt the resort could benefit from one or two additional restaurant options, although we visited during the transition from off-peak to peak season, so it's possible not everything was fully open yet.
Overall, we had an absolutely brilliant holiday and made wonderful family memories. While I personally probably wouldn't return because of the limited restaurant options and the timing of the children's entertainment, those issues may not bother many families. The beautiful setting, fantastic beach, excellent accommodation and top-quality evening shows made for a really enjoyable stay, and I would still happily recommend Playa Montroig to others.
