Great location on lake garda

We stayed in a 2 bed comfort vista with eurocamp. The 2nd bedroom with 2 singles and a bunk bed was absolutely tiny, maybe ok for young kids but definitely not adults. It had a lounge and kitchen both with doors to the verandah and a decent sized shower toilet room. Air con was good. No plug sockets... in the large bedroom which wasn’t great as it was furthest from the air con unit and couldn’t even plug a fan in. The location was on the top site (the site is split into 2 parts), steps away from reception and close to the main road. We always find eurocamp pitches are closest to the road but they are usually the cheapest company on a site, so you get what you pay for. If you’ve stayed in this part of garda before you’ll know to expect roaring motorbikes flying past even well into the night, so take your ear plugs but we kind of just got used to it. Caravan was pretty dated, I’ve stayed in newer ones but also stayed in older ones too. It was relatively clean, but I always whip round on arrival anyway, take our own linen and it feels like home. Cheap and cheerful so we don’t expect much, other than somewhere to sleep and change mainly. The verandah didn’t have a gate on it, which was a crazy hazard for my 2 year old, whose only mission was to leap off the top step. I requested a baby gate from the eurocamp reps (there were about 3/4 of them that were friendly and said hello) but was told to use chairs to block the steps… which was even more unsafe to me. Other than that, the facilities were fine, ample parking right outside the caravan, gas bbq, clothes horse. If we went again I’d probably request a pitch higher up away from the reception just for privacy more than anything, less people walking past and staring in.
Check in with the eurocamp rep was cheerful friendly and efficient, but the prior check in with the actual campsite was dreadful… the queues were horrific - 1 member of staff serving. The first young lady we met did not say hello goodbye or anything in between, other than to ask for our passports and booking details. The 2nd experience we had at reception was with an older lady with greying hair and glasses and she was just plain rude. we heard her be patronising and impolite to everyone in the queue before us, and then came our turn! She was sarcastic, unhelpful and definitely should not be working in customer service on a holiday park! Cisano san Vito your staff let you down! The waitress in the restaurant by the lake was just as bad, even telling our 2 year old off when he dropped the menu on the floor!
That being said, the facilities on site were good. On the top part of the site, we’re 2 pools. 1 of them was sold to me by the reps as an adults pool, but it certainly wasn’t. It had 2 slides, a deeper pool and a shallow pool with jacuzzi. It was very old and dated and frankly unsafe in parts, however the larger pool/splash park was much better with several slides for all age kids, water aerobics everyday, snack bar. However, in the 4 days we were there we never once got a single sun bed, so if you want one, you need to be up before the sun to put a towel down so it seems, maybe it’s better outside of the school holidays. The toilets at the poolside were also dreadful and needed more cleaning. There was also a supermarket on the top site with fresh pastries and bread in the morning, but the queues were 30 minutes long every day at opening time.
Bike rental was good, we even got a trailer for the kids and the path along the lake you can easily cycle to lasize, bardolino and garda town. There’s a few restaurants about a 5 minute stroll from the site towards bardolino too with a Friday night market, and it was nice here when you didn’t want to venture too far.
The bottom part of the site had lake views but was mostly tents and pitches for motor homes. It’s easy to cross from the top to bottom site, through the underpass, took us around 5-10 mins max to walk from our pitch to the lake side.
The evening entertainment was held lake side, it had beautiful views but the entertainment was only for the kids and really amateur. Lots of entertainers with not much going on. My 5 year old enjoyed the talent night but for us it was like pulling teeth, and nothing on afterwards for the parents. We didn’t see anything else going on whilst we were there although things were advertised like sports, kids club. From what we saw 1 afternoon kids club was just a bunch of colouring in.
Don’t expect to have any phone signal here, and the WiFi is terrible, people gathered in droves round the reception building to try any.
We had a fab holiday. But we knew what to expect in terms of eurocamp accommodation as we had been before, we dipped in and out of the facilities on site but also spent a lot of time sightseeing and hired a boat on the lake, so we took the best parts of it and enjoyed it.
