Car-free Eurocamp experience

We stayed in a Eurocamp/Homair 3 bedroom Premium mobile home in August, booked via Eurocamp.
CAMPSITE:
Positives:
* It's a smaller site than many we have been to, which was really nice.
* Although the campsite seemed very busy, the swimming pools were never too crowded. The water slides were fun....
Negatives:
* As others have commented, one of the pools has an unfinished floor, which caused a few painful scraped toes - it also had a lot of sand in the bottom of the pool. But we stopped using that pool and just used the other one.
* Campsite shop very small - useless for anything more than morning pastries and baguettes.
Neutral comment:
* The layout of the campsite is very confusing - I have never been to a campsite before where I was still taking wrong turns after a week, and I regularly saw other people looking very confused and lost too. There seemed to be no logic or organisation to the layout - but in a funny way that added to the charm of the site.
LOCATION:
* Car-free: We chose this site as it was recommended by Eurocamp as not needing a car. We travelled by train from the UK and got a bus from Agde station to the campsite - very easy to do.
* The campsite is right by the beach, and just a few minutes walk from the harbour (lots of restaurants) and many shops. It was easy to get around.
* Public transport - the no.4 bus (5 min walk to bus stop) runs once an hour and takes 20 mins to the train station in Agde. The no.3 bus (5 mins walk to a different bus stop) runs every 40 mins but takes twice as long to get to the train station. The Cap D'Agde bus website had a tracker that was useful for knowing when buses would come (not always on time!)
* Supermarkets - it would have been a LOT easier with a car!! The campsite shop was too small to be any use. But there is a small Spar by the beach (less than 5 mins walk) which sold most of the basics we needed. We also took the bus to the Intermarche once - the no.4 bus stops right outside the Intermarche. The round-trip to the Intermarche took us over 3 hours because of the bus timings, so we only did that once and made-do with the Spar after that.
MOBILE HOME - EUROCAMP / HOMAIR
Positives:
* The Eurocamp/Homair mobile homes are in a lovely quiet area of the park (pitches 127-186 - see map), only a couple of minutes walk from the pool/shop/restaurant etc but far enough away for there to be no issue with noise in the evenings.
* Our pitch didn't feel hemmed in or overlooked by too many other mobile homes;
* Great outdoor sofa on a partially covered decking
Negatives:
* The merger of Eurocamp and Homair has (in my opinion) significantly reduced the quality of the actual mobile homes. We have stayed with Eurocamp/Alfresco many times previously but this was the worst mobile home we've had.
* For a "premium" mobile home it was very cramped inside - we had to use the shower room to get changed, as the bedroom literally just fitted the bed in it, with no room to stand and change beside it (see picture).
* The toilet was a separate cubicle to the shower room, and didn't have a sink in it to wash our hands
* There was very little storage space in the mobile home, compared to previous Eurocamp mobile homes.
* Lack of cooking facilities. One of our main reasons for choosing Eurocamp rather than a hotel is that we like to self cater on holiday. Unfortunately, since the merger with Homair, Eurocamp no longer guarantee that their mobile homes will have an oven. As French law has also changed this year to ban barbecues on campsites, we only had a 4 ring hob and a microwave to cook with - and it was only equipped with one small frying pan, two small saucepans and one large stock pot. When this was combined with the limited local supermarket produce available, it became very difficult to self cater, and for me this was the biggest negative of the holiday.
* Cleaning requirements. We are used to cleaning the mobile home to a good standard when we leave, but Eurocamp have reintroduced a 150 Euro penalty charge if cleaning is not done to a satisfactory standard - and we were given detailed instructions of what was expected from our cleaning. The rep even put blue plastic shoes on to go into the mobile home and inspect it before we left, which amused us but also felt a bit intense.
* This was our first Eurocamp holiday we've had where the Eurocamp rep spoke no English at all. She was pleasant, and we communicated on arrival and departure using our limited French and a translation app on her phone, but it meant that we were reluctant to seek help from her during our stay.
Overall, it was a good holiday - I've given it a 4 star review because the campsite itself was good, and my negatives are more to do with our Eurocamp / Homair experience than the campsite itself.
