Good family holiday in a seaside location

We spent 7 nights here in July including 2 days of heatwave (39oC). We unfortunately didn't have AC booked but fans were supplied and the pool was a godsend on those days. There is not much shade at the pool (no parasols) unless you get a lounger under the trees on one side or use the partly covered... pool. The pool entertainment was fun (like aqua aerobics to music for all ages) and the kids liked the slides. The pool area was very safe & well supervised but disappointed that drinks were not allowed in the area from the bar, no shoes/flip-flops and no floaties for the kids. Our kids are older so not interested in the camps but even so, it was not as easy to meet other kids as at a Eurocamp mainly due to language barrier. This is predominantly a French campsite, most of the night entertainment in French too and there is a big focus on selling mobile homes rather than providing holiday/customer service, e.g., bar, restaurant and shop were below expectations. Having said that, the mobile home was excellent (#608) & was right beside the pool area. We loved eating dinner on the decked area under the trees and we had loads of living space including a covered terrace. The WiFi is terrible and not worth paying for. The town of St Jean de Monts is approx 3km away with a beautiful wide sandy beach and good restaurants. This campsite being in the Vendee region is approx 4.5 hrs drive from the ferry terminal in Cherbourg so the weather is better than Brittany. The location is a good base to see La Rochelle, Rennes and Mont Saint Michel. We had a good holiday here but would probably not return.
