Perfect place for an affordable week away with my sisters grandkids, only discovered due to Covid 3 in 2020, we've returned each year (with and without the kids)
The site is set close to the River Cesse, a secure gate entry to the river and park are at the bottom of the site, swimming in the crystal... clear river is a lovely change (take appropriate footwear as it's slippy under foot) there is a Lifeguard in peak season. For shopping a 5 minute drive away is St Marcel d'Aude, an Intermarche and an Aldi, together with the usual local shops, Pharmacy, ATM Cash Machine etc.
We used the Online check in a few days before and on arrival there was no queuing, a Fast Check In stand had everything ready in an envelope under our name, excellent.
The mobile homes are clean and well maintained, well equipped with a gas hob, microwave (no oven) Filter Coffee Machine, pans, dishes etc.
The Kids Club runs in July and August Mon-Fri 10.00-12.00 and 15.00-1700, Mathilde is brilliant with the kids, they have plenty of activities both indoors and out, also taking advantage of the riverside park that backs onto the site. There are activities for the kids in the evenings as well, usually centred around the stage opposite the Bar /Restaurant.
July and August has some entertainment most nights, from Cabaret shows, Live Musicians, Magician, Comedy, dances ... last year even a Soiree Mousse, which was great fun, not just for the kids ;-)
The Bar Restaurant has changed hands this year, sadly for the worse, the once extensive menu has gone, as have the Pizzas which were incredibly popular, especially for take away. This year a limited choice and the service was incredibly slow, we waited over an hour for 4 Burgers and a Steak, that was after having to call the Waiter (after 20 mins) to take our orders. This place was goldmine before, always full, great service, popular with locals, lots a fresh local produce, dish of the day etc. (Wonder if things will improve when we return at the end of the season?)
The Swimming Pool is very welcome, with a children's Splash Pool, Fountain type things as well. A good number of Sunbeds surround the pool. It would be good if there was a stricter application of the pool rules, particularly concerning Teens/ Young Adults divebombing into the pool without looking or caring about other pool users, this as previously well controlled.
The site also has Laundry Facilities at approximately 6 Euros a Machine full, Dryers also available.
The Staff on the site are all so friendly and hard working, the small entertainment team are fabulous and endlessly patient with the youngsters that clearly adore them.
This is a great place if you're looking for somewhere small and friendly, but with some entertainment and facilities. There are so many places to visit within an hour or so, Le Somail and the Canal du Midi, the Roman town of Narbonne, steeped in history and a fabulous new Museum, Beziers, Carcassone, so many historical villages about. Narbonne Plage, Gruissan, St Pierre la Mer are just a few of the beaches 20-30 mins away.
The kids want to come back again next year and we have a child free week booked for the end of season, stay number 6, that confirms we like the place.
