Stay clear if it’s a quiet relaxing holiday that you are after.

We love Sommieres and wanted to return. Our usual site, Massereau, had changed hands and so we gave Gajan a chance.
Location wise it’s perfect, close to Sommieres and the local village of Boisseron. It’s also easy to access the Voie Vert, a 26km cycle trail that runs from the outskirts of Nimes to... the village of Lecques. And, in terms of positives, that’s about it.
The pool was very clean, but lacked good shade and was not actively patrolled.
The restaurant/ bar is poor, poorly laid out (the bar room is bare and featureless. We only tried pizza, I can’t recommend it.
The shower/ toilet block was jet washed once a day, never squeegee’d dry so quickly looked horrendous. No further cleans were undertaken throughout the day, it wasn’t unusual for there to be no toilet paper by early evening. To make matters worse the jet wash was carried out at 630ish, our van was about 10m away.
Entertainment started at 9pm, and finished at midnight, so not a sure to get a good nights sleep.
There was alternate entertainment one night when a couple of campers decided to have a punch up…
We are used to multi-national sites, this was very much dominated by the French, so not too friendly (sorry if that offends) as they seem to holiday as family units and don’t engage more broadly. The Dutch on site were friendly, so a bit of a bonus.
We won’t be going back, and wouldn’t advise our friends to do the same either.
