we travelled to alannia as a family of 5. 2 adults 3 kids 8 6 and 2.
When we arrived we were shocked at the location. It was very run down outside. When we arrived at reception everyone had very little English so it was hard to communicate except Olga she had the most!
Our cabin was lovely and clean... and comfortable kids loved it. the only downside to the cabin was the cooking facilities no oven toaster or kettle.
the shop did not have a great selection of food and there was a supermarket lidl and aldi close by but you couldn’t walk too dangerous and taxis are very hard to get.
The pool itself was brilliant kids loved the slides but the slides were not open all day which i don’t understand why.
pool bar didn’t have much and it was expensive and long wait times
the food in the restaurant/buffet was not nice kids wouldn’t eat anything so we had to rent a car to go into guardamar and santa pola. We tried getting taxis the but we were waiting hours in guardamar for a taxi and we had to take 2 taxis as a family of 5.
the evening entertainment is catered for the Spanish kids not English speaking kids so that was a let down.
we went to rio safari we enjoyed that
the pool was the highlight of the holiday but we won’t return as the campsite is very secluded nothing within walking distance.
First impressions it was just off to the side of a very busy national road the (N332) , the turn of
for the resort complex, is then down a fairly rundown looking road, the main entrance to the hotel
Is approx. 20 metres from an unprotected canal, - (there are occasional steel bollards to stop
cars from... driving into it, but no small wall for protection, which Is fairly dangerous considering it
Is right outside a resort, with children and toddlers – (I will detail a near miss further on in the post regarding the canal)
We arrived just after lunch and we were delighted to hear that our Mediterranean Suite Cabin was ready, and we could bring all our bags down and settle in pretty much straight away
There was 3 members of staff in reception when we arrived, the girl we dealt seemed pleasant enough and had enough english to be able to talk to us, The two other girls on reception, did not come across as in the slightest bit friendly or welcoming, and you were made to feel as if you were just an annoyance to them
The Mediterranean Suite Cabin was lovely and clean ‘The campsite was very clean and cleaning staff and gardeners were very friendly.
All excited we went to the pool with a very small round ring, just big enough for my 4-year-old and some small toys that we had. The pool area was very quiet at the time. Immediately we were told to remove the ring from the pool. The pool was empty, and we had the ring at the edge of the baby pool.
The lifeguard then came over with his phone on google translate and asked for our room number which we refused to give. The manager then arrived and told us to remove the ring.
We fully understand that the pool has rules, and the lifeguards are trying to keep everyone safe and are just doing their jobs, but they just seem to walk around blowing their whistle at the slightest little thing that any child or adult does, - and none have a word of English to explain what the person was actually doing wrong!!!!
Second day we took the kids to the kid’s club at 10.30am they were not signed in correctly and again no English we wrote the kids name down on paper plus our room number and our phone number. They did not enter this correctly into the computer.
The gates were not locked if the children walked out. The younger children had to have a parent stay.
One morning I actually witnessed a one-year-old boy, walk out of the kids’ club onto the road outside the campsite and beside a very dangerous drop into the canal, which has no safety barrier.
I grabbed the child and immediately looked for the parents!!!
I did not see any member of staff look for this child!!!
A car is essential if you want to go into Guardamar or nearby towns. No buses or trains and hard to get a taxi. From talking to some people, they had to pay for 2 taxies if you are a family of 5. No 5-seater taxies plus very hard to get a taxi back to the campsite. One Irish family said they spent over Euro 300 on taxies in one week! They said one night a local took them back.
Another night they said that they had to wait over two hours for a taxi to return to the resort
DO NOT WALK THE MOTOWAY ITS VERY DANGEROUS.
There is a nearby Lidi, Aldi, Burger King, Mercadona but it’s not safe to walk.
They don’t take cash at the pool bar only card or you can put money on a band at reception.
Massive Let Down – Alan Alannia MASCOT!! - Entertainment. lack of!!
My 4- & 6-year-old was so excited to see Alan and we did and even got a picture which was so cute!! A few days later my children said Alan is not real. We said he is… they said they seen them taking off the outfit and put it on the ground; ( very upsetting for us as parents trying to keep things as magical as you can, - you would think they would remove and store costume
Where it cannot be seen by the little kids)
Still very upset about that! They are only so small for such a short time.
On the nightly entertainment, there was a mini disco most nights, but again all in Spanish and again they had quizzes and treasure hunt, and show’s in Spanish with no English. – The staff seem to be totally oblivious to the fact that there are people there from other countries, I fully get that maybe 80% of the people staying are from Spain, and they have to be catered for, but
Just a simple “Welcome everybody” at the start of the show would have made it the slightest bit more inclusive
We made our own entertainment with my phone by playing musical chairs or hiding a ball under a cup!!!!!!!
We paid a lot of money for our one-year family holiday, and it was not worth half the price; (
Unfortunately, we came home sad and disappointed.
Staff
Reception - Not welcoming very unfriendly and could not speak English.
We were handed 4 orange bands to apply ourselves.
Restaurant – Again most of the staff had no English and one knocked my little boy over on the first night a man with glasses.
There were two young lads who had a good understanding of English and one lady with short hair they were nice.
Lifeguards – very unfriendly they loved blowing their whistle at the kids for anything but in fairness they did watch the pools the whole time.
Shop – Nice girls but no English.
Accommodation
The Mediterranean Suite Cabin was lovely and clean but not much room to cook plus there was no oven. There is very little space to hang your clothes or towels.
There was no kettle or toaster, and we asked reception and there was no problem getting one delivered to our cabin.
There were no English-speaking channels on the TV. We had taken our firestick, and we asked reception for an adapter, and they had one, so we were very happy so the kids could have some down time.
Shop
Opening Times: 9am to 2pm
Opening Times: 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Very limited stock plus you must pay an extra 30cent for a cold drink from the fridge.
No option to buy a magazine & paper or postcard etc,,
Prices not too bad.
Restaurant
No menus available only on a wooden block, which you then have to scan the QR code. No physical menus available which is not acceptable if you don’t know how to use a QR code or have any reading difficulties.
The food itself that you can buy is ok
The all-inclusive did not include drinks or ice cream plus the food looked terrible.
It was 19euro per adult for breakfast and children eats free but there was nothing for them to eat or drink. no fruit, pancakes, but you could have burnt sausages!
They have no idea what a Latte was
Pool Bar
Only one person serving the whole pool area so there was long waits.
No food available.
Slushie machine very limited and not ready at pool opening.
If you get a drink at the pool, you must pay Euro 1 per cup and they give you a receipt for a refund. If you don’t return the cup with the receipt, you don’t get your money back.
I got a cold sore from using the plastic cups.
Pool Area
Excellent pool area. Only downside it only opens at the following time.
Weekday Opening Time: 11.00am
Weekend Opening Time: 10.30am
It’s good that the lifeguards remove towels off the beds if people are gone for a long time.
They have games in the kid’s pool which are really not suitable for adults, but they all play. My child was knocked over a few times and was very upset the games were for kids so why did they not have games in adults pool for them!
Again, no English speaking all in Spanish! I asked the rep to talk in English, and it did not happen.
Only two toilets for girls and boys and in the girls only one working and was blocked up! Not safe! Kids going in without footwear
Near By Beach
Nudist Beach and dangerous walk to it with lots of water channels which was polluted with rubbish. Pictures attached.
I would not recommend this for a family or couple horrible walk down and NOTHING on the beach apart from a few old nudist men.
Pools were amazing
Rooms were good
Noise levels were not great - families made noise up to 2am some nights
The site is like a Spanish version of the UK Haven holiday site.
7/10 and the kids loved it but wouldn’t return
Very clean and well kept site. Pitches really good size and surrounded by hedges. Pools are very big with plenty of chairs. Lovely walks outside site. Amenities are good and layout of site is good. Entertainment in evenings very limited (June), mini disco and quiz. Oh and quizzes are fun only no prizes... if you win. Food as expected, low quality and elevated cost.

From a site point of view, this has excellent facilities. Large pitches with electricity, fresh water & grey water disposal.
The showers & toilets are one of the best we’ve experienced and so are the laundry facilities.
June is a busier time to stay here than earlier in the year and all would have... been fine until the arrival of neighbours on pitch 99 who have a dog that barks continuously all evening until midnight!!
Also be aware of the pedestrian walkway which has cyclists forbidden but this is ignored & twice I’ve nearly been knocked flying by a miniature cyclist while walking along the road!
In spite of the negative issues we will stay here again but perhaps in April or May.
