Disappointing end to what we thought would be a cheap and cheerful break
5 days in allania Guardamar, staying in a cabin
The cabin it self was passable
The pirate themed wall in the kids room was a little off putting for my 2. Both being older girls it really wasn’t there scene
The sofa in the living... room also looked like it had been dragged out of student digs and plonked in the living area as an after thought, it was grubby, Didn’t match, and had a blanket on one part covering some of its sins.
We checked in at 12pm in the night, well we were handed a key and a map from a security guard instructed to check in in the am
On doing so we were still not provided with any info about the site/park just instructed to give a €100 deposit
(We assumed for the usual, if we broke or stole anything)
Pool area seemed very quite on the first day we assumed it was change over day,
But could quite possibly be because the pool bar doesn’t open in the week at all.
We only discovered this when we came down the next day to find it open and not a free subbed in site
Seems all the locals flock to the park for a day out on the weekend
We’re not big drinkers but a cool beer by the pool on holiday would have been nice.
Gym seemed pretty well equipt on first inspection, plenty of machines and a tidy selection of dumbell
Wasn’t until I went to use the running machine one morning I realised I was mistaken
None of the buttons worked on the 3 that were there.
I can’t comment on the spa area as we didn’t get to use it
They closed it for deap chlorination for 3 of the 5 days we were there, again dissapointed
The park itself is in the middle of no where, and there is nothing to walk to in the area, you will require a taxi to take you everywhere as the road out front is extremely busy, we did walk to the supermarket but I wouldn’t advise taking little ones as you are walking on a main road to get to it
Icing on the cake for us was returning home to an email saying they were keeping €30 of the deposit we paid because we had left to much littler in the cabin and it required extra cleaning time
All our waste was contained in 1 bin bag and placed next to the inadequate kitchen bin.
This would only require one person to lift and take out, It was not heavy by any means, my 10 year old daughter could have carried that bag out with 1 hand.
The dishes were done and the floor was brushed. All dirty towels were placed in the shower.
Nothing was broken or stolen and I feel this is an extremely harsh fine for not taking out a neatly contained amount of household waste.
In fact it looks like an extremely sneaky way to make a quick buck from unknowing guests
After emailing back to try to recover our full deposit we have had no response so it seems they also have a very poor customer care team on top of all the other issues
No not recommend and will not be returning

Rooms good but was self catering and had no toaster oven or kettle supermarket poor snack bar poor pool area was good for kids but large groups of local school kids came daily was far to busy you couldn’t even leave your towels to go for food without them being removed and dumped in a pile by the lifeguard... this place is just catered for Spanish not a good experience

Nice resort, but we were completely cut off.No beach access due to huge construction site(they are dredging the river). We could see Mercadona supermarket, but couldn't get to it.Spent a fortune on taxis to get to beach.Over 20€ a trip. The pool bar only opened at the weekend when the Spanish come.The... bar man was grumpy.Only went there once for 1 drink. The playground was more for under 5,s.The reception staff were very helpful, and ordered us our taxi's. Our accommodation was a bit cramped but clean. We got bitten all the time by the mosquitoes and could not sit out on an evening. One of us had to go to clinic in Guardamar for antibiotics. The site is pretty, but restrictive if you want to go out,Beware the hot water from the taps in your accommodation, it's boiling hot,and burnt my granddaughter s hand

Pool lovely , bit late opening at 11am but nice not struggling for beds . We head breakfast included was something to eat but not great choice . Room was lovely, air con great . Having said that floors were filthy feet were black on arrival, be nice to have information on when pool bar opens as only... open on weekend, be nice to have info on taxis whats around what time lunch or dinner available etc . As with out bringing freezer blocks and cool bag be a pain to get to main bar as have to walk all way round .
But in general had an amazing g time with the family staff in bar area are lovely . Pool very strict re no balls inflatable s etc .
Worst part for me on the last day felt like 100 school kids in pool as my parents old felt unsafe going in would of been nice having a relaxing day .
Unsure if I would come again room and pool nice not sure if that's enough or not for the cost .

After a brilliant few days at Alannia Guardamar, I had to write a review to share our experiences.
We are British, and having read some of the reviews from other Brits, I was a little concerned about our stay. I needn't have worried. From start to finish, we had a wonderful time!
The staff were friendly,... kind and professional. Speaking a little Spanish goes a long way, but most staff speak enough English that between everybody, you can all usually make yourselves understood.
Our little chalet was ideal for 2: outdoor and indoor seating, a small kitchen with hob, microwave and fridge-freezer (no kettle), a nice shower room and 2 bedrooms. The double bed was so comfortable and there was air con in both there and the living room. The other bedroom had three bunks and served as a useful dressing/luggage room for us! Nice to be alongside international guests in motorhomes/tent set-ups too.
Breakfast was a reasonable continental selection: cereals, cooked food, fruits, pastries, juice etc. and served between 8am and 10am.
On-site shop had a decent selection of basic foods. Restaurant had a nice menu of snacks and main meals throughout the day. Food and drinks were pretty reasonably priced for the setting: e.g. really nice pizza for €12.50, less than €5 for two bottles of coke and a cafe con leche. Just a few euros apiece for a bottle of beer or a nice glass of wine.
Outdoor pool area was lovely: a livelier family area (though never too busy) and a quieter area round the corner, including a handful of Bali beds, which you can hire for €25/day: great if you're having a poolside day! Indoor pool a nice treat, €9/adult for an hour with heated pool, sauna, steam room and hydro jet hot pool. Lovely.
Special mention to (Andreas) Marco: absolutely lush staff member! Kind, patient and fun, and always ready with a smile and some positivity.
It is a little different to the kind of resort that families may typically be used to: it's a bit like a Spanish Haven/Butlin's with extra sunshine...! There wasn't very much around the site, but we managed to get a taxi into Guardamar and back one day, about €10 each way, and checked out the castle, the archaeological museum and the town/beachfront. A beautiful and fascinating town.
Something we didn't know before arrival was that there's a damage deposit of €100 to pay on arrival. This was refunded automatically the day after check-out, and there were no issues at all with getting this back.
I'd not hesitate to return: a lovely experience and we hope to go back one day.
