A tree fell onto our mobile home: what happened afterwards was even more disappointing

Our family experienced one of the most frightening moments we have ever had on holiday.
A few days before the incident, after a period of very strong winds, I went to the main reception because I was concerned about a tree leaning towards our mobile home.
The employee could not identify the exact tree... I was referring to, but reassured me that Valamar regularly inspected and maintained the trees throughout the campsite, including pruning them when necessary.
A few days later, despite there being no extraordinary weather at the time, a large tree fell directly onto our mobile home while my family was inside.
Thankfully nobody was physically injured.
I cannot say whether the tree could have been prevented from falling, and that is not for me to judge. What happened afterwards is the reason I am writing this review.
The following day, I needed information about the police report. I simply wanted to know which police station I should visit and whether there was a case number.
To be honest, I was still trying to process what had happened. I simply needed someone to explain what I should do next.
At the main reception, I was told that I needed to speak with the manager, but that she could not be reached. I asked whether I could contact her directly, but was told that communication only went through the reception’s internal telephone system.
After I had asked several times and explained the seriousness of the situation, another employee used a different internal telephone and reached the manager almost immediately.
At that point, I genuinely did not understand why this had not been done from the beginning.
I went to the reception hoping to get practical information and help. Instead, I found myself having to explain why I needed assistance at all.
At one point, I was told that I was overreacting. After a tree had fallen onto the mobile home where my family had been staying, that was difficult for me to understand.
I asked one of the employees how they would have reacted if a tree had fallen onto the accommodation where their own family had been sleeping.
There was also a disagreement about the registration of my mother-in-law, who had arrived later during our holiday.
We had informed Eurocamp about her arrival, but nobody told us that she also needed to register separately at Valamar’s main reception. This was an error in communication between the parties, and we went to the reception to correct it.
Unfortunately, her registration became a major point of discussion at a time when we were simply trying to deal with the situation after the tree had fallen.
There was another incident shortly after the tree fell.
My mother-in-law went to the reception with my five-year-old son because he urgently needed to use a toilet. She was initially told that there was no toilet available. After leaving the reception, she was directed back there by another person, and only after asking again was my son allowed to use the toilet.
Considering that they had both been inside the mobile home when the tree fell, we found this very difficult to understand.
I want to make it clear that Eurocamp ultimately handled our complaint professionally and refunded our stay. My criticism is not directed at them.
It is directed at the way our family was treated by Valamar’s main reception after the incident.
The tree falling was something none of us could change.
The way we were treated afterwards could have been different.
That is what our family will remember from this holiday.
