First time campers

We went with another family, with one caravan per family. We were unaccustomed to camping, and caravans, and we had a great time. Although the caravans were seven berth, the sleeping accommodation was tight, with a double bed (with little space around it), and another small room with a single bed, and... two bunks. We didn't need the pull out bed in the lounge/diner area, but if it had been used, there wouldn't have been much living room left.
The hot water was plentiful, the kitchen had plenty of crockery etc, and the tap water is drinkable. That saved on buying and carrying bottled water. The gas BBQ was excellent. The caravans were spotless.
The pools were clean, and the children enjoyed the slides. Gents are allowed to wear sports shorts in and around the pool, with no need for the tight budgie smugglers, or budgie jumpers, as my daughter called them. There is a tennis court, and volleyball court too.
We didn't have air con, and it would have been useful, so if you are booking, bear that in mind.
The camp site is rural, so please bring enough in the way of provisions for at least your first day. The nearest shops are about 8km away. We ate in the restaurant once, and it was fine. It is a friendly, well-maintained site, with visitors from many European countries. It is possible to order baguettes and croissants for the following morning. Probably best to bring a corkscrew.
There were a couple of areas that could be improved. The wooden stairs up to the slides are almost constantly wet, allowing mould to grow, resulting in slip hazards. They needed a power wash. Some children were overly boisterous at the slides, and jumped the queue. There was a lifeguard at the pools, but I never saw him go to the slides. It was clear that there were insufficient sun loungers at the pool, with guests disappointed, especially in the afternoons.
The site allowed us to explore a beautiful part of France. Sarlat and its markets, canoeing on the Dordogne, and Les Eyzies were highlights.
