Make no mistake about it this is a campsite with spectacular views and a hard-working welcoming management team. However, it's a bit off the beaten track and it's an unusual campsite and there's a number of things that I'd like to have known before I went.
1. Gravel. Gravel is everywhere on this site... as are stones of varying size. This is a not a campsite to be bare-foot in, or to be wearing thin-soled footwear. My feet were very sore after a week and I sometimes wished that I had proper walking boots. Even the children playground is covered in gravel, which would make a child falling off a swing also have gravel rash.
2. The road to the site is, as you might expect in the Alps, is steep. If you were towing this might make this difficult. Local drivers (I assume) will tailgate you.
3. The roads around the site are also very steep with unforgiving corners in places. The management do have a tractor to help caravans.
4. Many pitches are small, uneven, covered in stones or gravel and parking is tight. Frequently there are steep drops. This was not a campsite I would choose to come back in the dark to, unless I parked at the entrance rather than at my tent. Space for larger tents is limited.
5. The sanitary facilities are kept very clean, but there are few. Often you will queue. The loos are tiny.
6. The non-slip tiles around the pool get very hot and are gravelly. They were painful to stand on when the temperature was 36 degrees.
7. The nearest Supermarket was 20-30 mins drive away, although the village of Corps (which I couldn't find a supermarket in) is a bit nearer.
8. There are few 'attractions' in the immediate area, although I can recommend the Mine museum. On the other hand if walking/climbing/cycling is your pleasure then this has it all in abundance.
Overall, we were a bit disappointed. A lot of this was not knowing or understanding the character of the site before we turned up, 1000 miles from home. The scenery is spectacular, especially from the pool. But overall, without the appropriate gear, the site isn't that comfortable. It's bumpy, space is limited and people get very territorial, the people on the next pitch wouldn't let us walk pass their tent and insisted we walk the long way around. The water supply failed for a some hours on the last but one day we there (no explanation) which finished us off. We left the following morning.
We stayed here for one night whilst travelling through France - we came from Nice and probably under-estimated the climb, as we were towing a 6.4m long caravan!! However, wearrived to this gorgeous campsite set into the mountains. It is as it says - 2 swimming pools which are perfect for the hot days... - unfortunately it had been raining so they were not in use. The site is clean, there are cleaning facilities, showers, toilets, all a bit basic I don't understand why these areas are not looked at during the Winter months! The chalets / bungalows looked very good - did not see inside though. However, the owner / manager is very charming, very helpful and a delight to deal with. There is a restaurant on site and I think every night a different set menu - this particular night there was entertainment to go along with it and so after the lovely hot meal the entertainment which is the camp owner and family got up on stage. It was a great night of music and dance with some surprises!!. There is fresh bread every morning from coming from the local Boulangerie which we didn't know you must order the night before -so we missed out but the next time!!!
A definite return I think.
Camping pour les gens qui aiment la nature, la simplicité, le calme et surtout une vue superbe. Tout était nickel. Avec un plus non négligeable le soleil jusqu au soir à la piscine! Parfait après une randonnée.
Sehr schöner Camping, mal anders. Die Plätze sind versetzt, liegen auf verschiedenen Höhen. Man hat genug Platz und ist größtenteils von den Nachbarn getrennt.
Sehr nette Campingbetreiber, saubere Sanitäranlagen (gibt nur keine Seifenspender bei den Toiletten), gutes Essen im Restaurant.
Beheiztes... Schwimmbad mit einer sehr schönen Aussicht auf den gegenüberliegenden Berg!
Allerdings liegt der Camping etwas „abgelegen“. Wenn man einkaufen gehen will ist man etwas unterwegs, da man nur Bergauf / Bergab fahren muss, mit vielen Kurven und man so nicht sehr schnell vorankommt…
Aufpassen muss man mit großen Campern. Möglicherweise sind nicht alle Plätze befahrbar, weil man im Berg scharf um eine Kurve manchmal fahren muss, um auf den gewünschten Parkplatz zu kommen!
Ich war 1 Woche auf dem Camping, und hätte es definitiv noch länger dort aushalten können! Sehr empfehlenswert!
