Gouffre de Padirac (5.5 km, 9 minutes): Immerse yourself in the magic of these fascinating places that are sure to win over caving enthusiasts! France's leading underground site. Let yourself be seduced by this work of art resulting from time on the rock. The chasm is 70 m deep (a circular cavity in the open air). The visit begins with a boat trip on an underground river - a unique experience that's not to be missed.
Autoire (7 km, 10 minutes): Enjoy the romance of the Place de la Fontaine while savouring a delicious meal in the village inn and revel in its picturesque charm. During your visit, don't forget to admire the Château des Anglais, built directly into the cliff.
Parc animalier de Gramat (13 km or 15 min): Located in the heart of a protected natural environment; La Forêt des Singes (17 km) where macaques live in freedom; or the Rocher des Aigles ornithological ecopark to discover birds of prey (Rocamadour 20 km)
Rocamadour (20 km or 30 min): Built into the side of a cliff, this medieval town is a must-see for history buffs, one of the most beautiful villages in France and a major stopover on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Known for its religious city, accessible via the Grand Staircase, it is a place of pilgrimage and a thousand-year-old sanctuary. This small village of 600 inhabitants is one of the region's must-visit places, and it is advisable to visit at the beginning or end of the high season, so as to enjoy the warmth of the fine weather without having to weave in and out of passers-by.
Parc Durandal (19 km or 25 min): Horse and equestrian shows. On the programme: equestrian stunts, fights, unusual characters, offbeat humour and a great sense of complicity and closeness with the performers!
Martel (24 km or 30 min): Nicknamed La ville aux 7 tours, Martel is one of the most beautiful villages in France, located in the Dordogne Valley. A very lively town in the summer months. A town of art and history, it is now a dynamic and welcoming place, with its cobbled, leafy streets, elegant houses, ancient gateways, pretty local craft shops and excellent restaurants. The region's speciality is truffles. At the height of the summer season, discover local producers' markets and medieval-themed festivals.
Parc Naturel des Causses du Quercy (32 km, 1/2 hr): Discover this geo-park, which promotes and protects the Lot's geological heritage. Numerous facilities and initiatives have been put in place to educate visitors about geology and help them understand the riches it represents, as well as deciphering the site's landscapes: sinkholes, abundant vegetation, remains of extinct animals. Walks and hikes, stargazing, nature activities (via ferrata, potholing, canoeing and kayaking, horse riding, orienteering).
Cardaillac (57 km or 1 hour): Walk along the sandstone-covered houses to the village fort. Inherited from the Middle Ages, its square towers tower over the houses. Cardaillac opens its doors to the past with its distinctive architecture and the village's famous Musée Eclaté.
Sarlat-La-Canéda (64 km or 1h15): Situated between the Dordogne and Vézère valleys, Sarlat-La-Canéda is a must-see town in the Périgord Noir region and the capital of foie gras and local gastronomy. This town of Art and History offers some lovely walks and many listed historic monuments to visit. As you wander through the narrow streets of the town, take a step back in time and discover the many remains dating back to the Middle Ages. This open-air theatre has inspired famous film-makers to use medieval settings as locations for cult movies such as Jacquou le Croquant, Les Misérables, La Fille de D'Artagnan and Jeanne d'Arc.
Other nearby activities include horse-riding (Saint-Céré, Gramat), canoeing, tree-climbing, via ferrata, caving, hiking trails, cycle paths, bowling (Biars-sur-Cère, 18km away) and cinema (Thégra).
