Excellent base for Venice, but...

We stayed at Hu Venezia in August 2023, and this was our third family holiday using Hu campsites in just 13 months having previously spent two weeks at Hu Fabulous in Rome, and a week at Hu Firenze.
This site is a fairly small one, and is very quiet - the only noise you'll hear will be from the road... that runs alongside the camp, but this was minimal and did not affect our stay.
There are three swimming pools in the pool area - a shallow beach type area, a small learner's/child's pool, and then the larger and deeper main pool. The pool area is a good size for the size of the campsite, we had no issues finding sunbeds, and the lifeguards were very good in ensuring the pool rules were followed so everyone could enjoy their stay.
The reception staff were excellent, could all communicate effectively in English, and were very helpful.
The free shuttle bus to and from Venice is brilliant, and we made use of this everyday of our stay. My only gripe was that it doesn't start running until 9am, as I like to be out walking by 6 or 7 in the morning to beat the heat and the crowds. However, this was achieved by taking the public bus number 6 (a 20 minute walk to the bus stop), and then coming back on the free shuttle.
The bar is very good, but a little highly priced which left us deciding to buy drinks from the local hypermarket (20 minute walk) and storing them in the fridge at our accommodation, when usually we'll buy from the bar if priced reasonably. The same goes for the campsite shop, this too was overpriced and even more disappointingly was the fact there were no fresh croissants or pastries of a morning like there are at other Hu sites we've stayed at.
The reason though, for me scoring our stay so low was the accommodation. We stayed in unit 249 and on our first evening we found our microwave/convection oven would light up and turn the turn table but there was no heat. It took two days, numerous trips to reception, and numerous emails before we finally received a working replacement. Also, this unit has a kitchen tap which does not stop dripping, and the children's bedroom doorframe has obviously been damaged in the past but has been repaired badly with gaps between the frame and the wall, and poorly filled. Finally, on the website this accommodation is advertised as having air-conditioning - well, yes it does, but only in the kitchen/dining area and not in the bedrooms. This means the one unit is trying to control the temperature of the whole building, and it just couldn't cope. If anyone from Hu is reading this, we don't need air-con in the kitchen area, we need it in the bedrooms in the same way we had excellent air-con the previous week in the accommodation at Hu Firenze.
Overall, if you want to visit Venice and have a good pool area and bar, then this is a great site to choose. But, in all honesty, if this had been our first experience with Hu, then the combination of the issues with accommodation and the lack of fresh produce in the overpriced shop would probably put us off trying other sites in the future.
