A very warm welcome and a pleasant setting – it’s a shame the snack bar isn’t open in September

When we arrived, we noticed that the fridge wasn’t working properly. By the very next day, our butter had already gone soft. We reported this to the owner, who told us that, given the heat, we were probably using the fridge incorrectly. He advised us to set the thermostat to 3 or 4 instead of 6, which we did. In the meantime, we used our cool box and left only a few items of food in the fridge. During our stay, we spent one night at a friend’s house. When we returned, everything in the fridge had gone mouldy and there was a strong, unpleasant smell. I went back to reception to tell the owner. She told me that the fridge would be replaced. I asked for a thermometer: the temperature inside was 24 °C. She told me that her husband would bring one round in the afternoon. The afternoon passed without the fridge being replaced. The owner came back to see us and asked when we were leaving. It was Thursday, and I told him we were leaving the campsite on Saturday. He then told me he would buy one the next day and install it straight away. In the end, nobody turned up and we left on Saturday without having a working fridge. Fortunately, we had a good-quality cool box. I fully understand that it can be difficult to find a fridge of that size at short notice. However, a simple message or a note to let us know that it wouldn’t be replaced before we left would have been appreciated. Similarly, after advising us to adjust the settings, it would have been reasonable to come back and check whether the problem had been resolved. That said, I’d like to emphasise that the owner is very welcoming, cheerful and understanding. The campsite is pleasant, quiet and clean, and the pitches are spaced out sufficiently, which is much appreciated. The kitchen is also well-equipped, particularly with plenty of utensils, including a chopping board. I also had a minor incident with the microwave cover, which I accidentally burnt. It was replaced immediately, without any fuss, which I greatly appreciated. However, we were not offered any compensation despite the fridge being faulty throughout our stay and the loss of the food it contained.

Nothing but praise for the welcome and the campsite – it’s absolutely top-notch. However, the customer service at Campings was very disappointing.
