At the mouth of the Rhine, the wide plains and flower fields are Holland’s main attraction. The best moment to walk around the fields covered by tulips, hyacinths and daffodils is between April and Mai.
National Parks are spread all over the country; some of the most important being Hoge Veluwe National Park, Westbroek Park and Lelystad Natural Park.
Holland also offers a rich and varied cuisine, a wide range of cheeses and many types of beers. The local people can usually speak more than one language; they are friendly and love travelling.
The Government Headquarters is to be found in The Hague but Amsterdam is the official capital city and it is there where the visitor can find the main cultural attractions. The transportation net is one of the most developed in Europe and pedestrians and bikers have always priority on the road. The traditional towns of Marken and Volendam are not far away from Amsterdam by car.
Alkmaar is famous for its cheese market; Haarlem for its tulip fields; and Utrecht for its medieval churches. In the southwest, Rotterdam harbour, the clay centre of Delft and the university town of Leiden are a must.
